Sacoor Brothers

Our Story

Sacoor Brothers

The story of Sacoor Brothers cannot be told without mentioning the cherished dream of four brothers, whom in November 15th 1989 embarked upon an incredible adventure to build a brand that curates a fashionable lifestyle. They have made the brand Sacoor Brothers a major global fashion house, seen in upmarket fashion capitals all over the world.

Our DNA

Service and experience are at the core of the company’s DNA. A passion that has lead the brothers to continuously design high-quality collections combined with an excellent and ever improving service. There are no secrets to this, as it is the company’s commitment to train its employees in the Sacoor Business School method in the warm and welcoming spirit of the Portuguese people. A successful strategy that promptly attracted loyal customers and business growth.

We set out to craft pieces that reflect emotion, aesthetics and a deep appreciation for culture.

How it started

Sacoor Brothers started out as a small fashion retail store that sold clothes exclusively for men. It was located right in the heart of the European capital of Lisbon, on a busy street where the smell of freshly brewed espressos and delicious pastries filled the air. Even today, the brand offers its customers espressos as they are welcomed to lounge and feel right at home while they shop for their favourite styles. The brand is proud to bring lifestyle through a unique retail experience, along with our in-house complimentary tailoring service to ensure customers receive a perfect fit.

Shopping Mall Store

It was in 1997 when Sacoor Brothers opened its first shopping mall store in Lisbon, at the time the biggest of its kind in Europe. The challenge was great, and in fact, there was a lot to be learned from this experience, as the entire shirts collection projected for the first season was sold out in just 15 days after opening. This was an obvious sign that much work had to be done to improve sales forecasts, logistics and organization, but more importantly it showed there was a positive demand from customers.

Sacoor Woman and Kids

After mastering the art of dressing men, Sacoor Brothers extended its core business and began creating collections for its Sacoor Woman line in 2001, available in Sacoor Brothers boutiques. The fashion house then identified the need to offer its distinguished style to boys and girls, propelling the opening of dedicated kids’ stores in 2014. Now the entire family has access to being dressed by the well-loved brand.

To exceed our Customer expectations every day

Partners

As the brand grew to satisfy the fashion needs of its demanding customers, so did the need to partner with famous local and Hollywood celebrities, athletes like Cristiano Ronaldo as well as international football clubs like FC Barcelona, in order to gain global recognition in international markets. These celebrity partnerships allowed Sacoor Brothers to gain strength to begin its international expansion in 2007 that launched in Spain and the United Arab Emirates.

Locations

Now proudly present in 16 different countries, Sacoor Brothers recently celebrated the opening of its 115th location. Men, women and kids can experience the world of Sacoor in Portugal, United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Jordan, Palestine, Algeria, Sri Lanka, Romania, Georgia and South Africa.

Today

Sacoor Brothers is not satisfied with just making apparel. We set out to craft pieces that reflect emotion, aesthetics and a deep appreciation for culture. The end result is seen in timeless pieces rich in history and tradition, yet perfectly modern.

Today, Sacoor Brothers is a premium brand, offering ‘defining’ refinement to those who appreciate timeless elegance. What began with a small store in Lisbon has now grown into an internationally recognized brand that invites customers to enjoy a remarkable retail experience with a distinguished spirit of fashion.

The Official Tailor

Sacoor Brothers became the official tailor for the Portuguese National Football team until 2023.
Made in Portugal the three-piece suit was designed and made on the most demanding criteria of quality and precision of traditional tailoring, in high-end fabric and half-canvas.
Each suit was tailor-made and customized individually for each member, consisting of unique details: the logo of the Portuguese National Football Team on the liner with the player's name, the phrase "Conquista o Sonho" embroidered under the collar and details as the colors of the national flag. All done with the utmost requirement.

The history of Sacoor Brothers

Timeline

  • 1989
    • Then called “Modas Belize,” the first store opened in Rua Pascoal de Melo, Lisbon, on the 15th of November, 1989. The previous owner left a special request, that the brothers would carry on the legacy of his family business by using the branded bags he had left behind.
  • 1990
    • Soon after launching their business, the brothers travelled to Florence, Italy to attend their first Pitti Uomo, the most important International event for menswear, men accessories collections and launches of new men fashion projects. This was when the idea to develop a high quality product that would target an upper class of Customers. Attention to the product and service excellence were the main focus since day one.
  • 1991
    • The Sacoor Brothers loyalty card was a pioneer in the Portuguese market and provided its Customers with access to a range of novelties, discounts and services. Then, cards were mailed directly to the Customers’ address.
  • 1992
    • The brand reaches out and starts partnerships with Portuguese celebrities, public figures and with the prominent TV channel SIC. Well-known national football players and famous TV hosts such as Simão Sabrosa and Jorge Gabriel, along with fashion models, journalists and Hollywood actors became part of the brand’s marketing communications.
  • 1993
    • A second store opens in Lisbon, located in a typical family Portuguese neighborhood. The new location is 200 square meters, which helps the brand gain further projection, by offering a wider variety of products as well as an improved Customer service. Not only was this space a fully functioning store, it also served as a warehouse and the firm’s first office space.
  • 1997
    • The first shopping mall store is only 29 square meters and inaugurates in Lisbon’s Colombo shopping center, the biggest shopping mall in Europe at the time. This step projected the brand even further, so much so that the lack of experience in managing a business in such a high footfall venue resulted in the entire shirts collection projected for the season being sold out in just 15 days after opening. This was an obvious sign that much work had to be done to improve sales forecasts, logistics and organization, but more importantly it showed there was a positive demand from Customers.

In the same year, Sacoor Brothers noticed a major success of its iconic shirts with big inmprints of mices and bears. A unique model of shirts that marked a whole generation.
  • 1998
    • Until then, not all stores were capable of accommodating an in-house tailor to fulfill Customers’ fitting requests. For this reason, tailoring requests began to be centralized in Lisbon to quickly respond to Customers. Renewing the stores was meant to improve the service provided to Customers as well as to highlight the quality of the tailoring service.
  • 2000
    • Having Customer service in mind, the firm started auditing its stores. Over the years, audit reports became an important evaluation tool that helps Sales teams to maintain the stores’ image and service quality always at their best.

The national expansion of the business began in the city of Porto, nominated several times as European Capital of Culture. The first store out of Lisbon was in Norte Shopping. This obliged the business structure to consider a hefty investment in logistics as well as standardization of processes and procedures. A tight control has always been made to ensure that any new stores opened under the Sacoor Brothers name were delivering the same high quality.
  • 2001
    • After 1 year of research on the fashion retail market for women, the brand decided to invest in the Sacoor Woman line. The elegant and sophisticated Portuguese actress and TV host Catarina Furtado accepted the brand’s invitation to become the first brand ambassador for this line. Several celebrities followed, including stars like Sarah Wayne Callies, Khandi Alexander, Rachel McDowall, Irina Shayk and Ana Beatriz Barros.

  • 2002
    • As the business grew, so did the operations and the brothers felt the need to invest in a bigger office. The Talaíde Park office was created and is still today where the business has all the operations that maintain the business across Europe.

Moez Sacoor, the youngest of the four brothers, was honored with the awards of “Young Marketing Professional” and “Personality of Fashion Marketing”.
